"Azriel is the most enigmatic and mysterious of the six archangels, thus stories and sightings of him are as rare as his actual tasks. He is a solitary figure who does not hold many offices or titles compared to his heavenly brethren, and this serves his ultimate purpose. He is the least utilized, but most feared of the archangels, for he holds the power of life and death over all, even those who call him brother." ~Ruth Thompson's Book of Angels
In Lucifer's Blessing, I spell his name Azrael, but he's the same guy, the Angel of Death. On his scythe, in angelic text (also from that book, which i love so much) , is written "God's Command". He's the only one who can actually DESTROY a soul. He uses his scythe to pull out the soul and store them there until they can be delivered to the Mother Plain, where Michael places them in either Heaven or Hell.
This picture was pretty much a good two hours of crazed scribbling. I'm not sure what i think of his scythe, opinions are good :] All of the archangels respect and follow the orders of Azrael, who is most usually under possesion by God Himself. If Azrael wills it, so does God. He is the only one fully aware of the ENTIRE Great Plan. So even if you disobey him, he already knew you would, and knows exactly what will come of it.
His bird is the archeopteryx. Which are dinosaur birds. As in, theyre extinct, which is fitting because Azrael is the angel of death. (I feel so witty) Also, Azrael cant fly.
EDIT:
WHAT IS HE SHOUTING?! TAKE YOUR PICK:
1. "HEAVEN HATH NO FURY!" 2. SPARTAA! 3. Who took the last bagel?! I MEAN IT! Michael, was it you-? Because I'm pretty sure GOD wanted me to have it!
One o' these days, you're gonna show me how you make such kick ass wings so bloody easily, eh? x33 Beautiful, as always. And I totally think choice three is the best. -nods-
The scythe... since you mentioned it, does look a bit awkward, stancewise. The design of lovely, though. ^^

I think he's a little thin. A coat or whatever you want to call it built like that wouldn't be so thin in the waist. And I think he's gripping the scythe wrong.

Across the globe, 27 million men, women, and children live in some form of slavery. That is more people at this moment than in all the centuries of the Atlantic Slave Trade. Something must be done. This contest serves two purposes: Raising awareness about human trafficking and raising funds for the Not For Sale organization.
Open to all mediums. Deadline is March 10, 2010 @ 11:59pm PST.
